Conservative nation, liberal press

It's strange that the USA is a conservative country, and yet 85% of all media -- including all broadcast national TV news, CNN, MSNBC, public TV and radio, and nearly all newspapers -- is liberal. Experts who study journalism acknowledge this fact (see this post). The media's objective is to transform this country into a liberal utopia, and despite all their best efforts, it's not working.

Here's an example of a typical U.S. journalist: David Weigel, who just resigned from the Washington Post. He was hired by the Post to "cover the conservative movement". It took leaked emails to reveal him for what he is -- a far-left nutjob, just like most reporters. More information here and here.

A new Gallup poll says conservatives are the largest group in the U.S., at 41%. Liberals make up 21% of the country. So, why do we occasionally have a far-left loon in the office of president? From Gallup:

Thus far in 2009, Gallup has found an average of 36% of Americans considering themselves Democratic, 28% Republican, and 37% independent. When independents are pressed to say which party they lean toward, 51% of Americans identify as Democrats, 39% as Republicans, and only 9% as pure independents.
