Toyota acceleration problems

Toyotas have black boxes -- data recorders. Who knew? Well, everyone who is well informed, leaving 95% of the population of America completely in the dark. The federal government has looked at a lot of data recovered from cars that crashed due to "unintended acceleration" and the data shows roughly what I've been saying all along. It's Audi Redux. It's a media sensation, not unlike Swine Flu, SARs or all the rest. WSJ:

    The early results suggest that some drivers who said their Toyotas and Lexuses surged out of control were mistakenly flooring the accelerator when they intended to jam on the brakes.

People simply cannot learn. The best lesson I'd like people to take away from our second idiotic acceleration scare, if people somehow obtain the ability to learn things, is this: the media is not in the information business, they are in the business of selling newspapers, getting web views, and amassing television audiences. This is completely divorced from the concept of giving the public a snapshot of reality.
