Liberals must really despise Independence Day. It's the most nationalist thing we do, and since liberals hate nationalism (read: hate the nation), they must really detest all the parades and fireworks displays.
I wonder if they also hate the Olympics and World Cup? In a world where liberals envision a "global village", these contests between nations must really bother them. Competition is bad, from the liberal viewpoint, so I'd bet money that they despise Independence Day, the Olympics, the World Cup, and anything else that enhances national identity.
On this 4th of July, leftists everywhere are sitting home watching one of the dozen or so anti-war films that Hollywood has churned out since we crushed the genocidal dictator in Iraq. They're sipping wine and munching on muscle relaxers, sobbing and wishing they could have their one-world, socialist government.

I noticed in the news that a man got his arm blown off while lighting some sort of firework. I'm waiting for more bans on fireworks.
Also in the news, a couple of horses got spooked and ran wild along a parade route in Iowa, killing one person and injuring more than 20 others. Think anyone will call for a ban on horses because they're dangerous?
