Surprising LA Times op-ed piece about race and voting

The LA Times, who almost exclusively employs writers who believe everything is racial, even an ant sitting on a leaf, has published an op-ed piece that says, essentially, not everything is racial. Could this have been a mistake? Did it slip through five minutes before deadline, when managers were more concerned about drinking at the corner tavern than spreading leftist ideology?

LA Times:

Every other federal court of appeals so far has ruled against using the Voting Rights Act to give felons the right to vote.

The 9th Circuit should join them.

The concern is about granting felons voting rights because felons are minorities, in disproportionate numbers. More specifically, a law suit about to come before the 9th Circuit Court claims that denying felons the right to vote is a racial issue, not a crime issue. The writers of the LA Times piece advocate rejecting the racial argument.

After I publish this post I'm going to walk onto the porch of my Laguna Beach home and look in the direction of Los Angeles. I expect to see porcine aviation.
