Saddam Hussein's trial heats up

Saddam Hussein, the man who used weapons of mass destruction against military and civilian targets, the man who accumulated more than 70 mass graves in 24 years, is going down. The first witness against him has begun testifying, and it's harrowing.

From BBC:

He was beaten, tortured and himself saw the infamous mincing machine into which entire human bodies were fed, sometimes alive.

After being tortured or beaten, women prisoners gave birth to dead babies, whose bodies were thrown into the common courtyard and left there. Children were tortured in front of their parents, parents in front of their children.

And..

But as ever, Saddam himself had the best line of the day so far. When his lawyers threatened to boycott the court and a recess was called, he shouted: "Why don't you just execute us?"

And from al-Reuters:

"I swear by God I walked by a room and on my left I saw a grinder with blood coming out of it and human hair underneath," said 38-year-old Ahmed Hassan, who said he had been kept in room 63 at the Hakmiya intelligence headquarters in Baghdad.

Hussein doesn't understand that civilized people don't simply execute one another. Neither do they use "mincing machines."

And because no WMDs were found in Iraq, that makes Bush some kind of devil? I'll never look at a liberal the same way again. They'd rather have a monstrosity like Saddam Hussein terrorizing an entire nation than fight a small war -- and it is very small compared to most of our other wars, such as the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

Get real, liberals. Nailing Hussein was worth the cost, which so far has been miniscule by any meaningful comparison.
