Media Matters and guns

The founder of Media Matters, a far-left organization designed to crush anything that isn't socialist or communist, is one David Brock. His org is against guns, among other things, because people should be dependent on government for everything, including personal safety. Turns out some of Brock's people have been illegally carrying guns for personal protection (at least one). See this Daily Caller story for details -- it's a must-read.

A regular target for Media Matters is John Lott, an economist, author and Fox News contributor. Here's a piece written by Lott about David Brock and Media matters, and their handling of gun control issues:
Of course, Media Matters never mentions the published research finding that right-to-carry laws reduce murders of police officers.
Nor do they mention that there has been a total of 29 peer reviewed studies by economists and criminologists, 18 supporting the hypothesis that shall-issue laws reduce crime, 10 finding no significant effect on crime, and that just one claims that right-to-carry laws temporarily increases one type of violent crime, aggravated assault.
The unsettling thing about Media Matters is that they have a lot of influence. They were involved in the removal of Don Imus from MSNBC, Glenn Beck from Fox, and Lou Dobbs from CNN.

So who is behind Media Matters besides David Brock? George Soros, via Politico:
George Soros announced that he has given $1 million to Media Matters “to hold Fox News accountable for the false and misleading information they so often broadcast.” Fox commentators frequently describe Media Matters, a frequent Fox critic, of being funded by Soros, but Media Matters has long denied that connection.
Soros, a communist by action if not name, isn't the only far-left creep supporting Media Matters:
