India and the UN Security Council

Our Little President™ has backed India in their quest to join the UN Security Council. This is another in a long list of dumb decisions our man in Washington has produced. The current version of India was set up after WWII to be the great socialist experiment. It has been a total failure, like most highly socialist countries (see: South America). This is almost the last country we would like to see playing politics within the Security Council.

Forbes:

"The just and sustainable international order that America seeks includes a United Nations that is efficient, effective, credible and legitimate," Obama said. "That is why I can say today - in the years ahead, I look forward to a reformed U.N. Security Council that includes India as a permanent member."

It's bad enough China is on the Council. China, you have to remember, is run by brutally oppressive communists. Sharansky said rather eloquently that a free country can pass the town square test -- if a citizen can stand in a town square and say he doesn't like the government, and nothing bad happens to him, it's a free country. In China when people say publicly that they don't like the oppressive communists, they get run over by tanks. The lucky ones disappear into re-education camps.

A lot of this brutality gets forgotten underneath the veneer of success China's PR machine has dumped on the uninformed. The commies are trying very hard, but unlike in China, some people in the world still have access to information: a Formula 1 race, Olympics, and face-lift beauty pageants can't completely obscure the truth.

Maybe I'd be more interested in the India question if China was kicked to the curb.
